Here are some current trends in Fort Worth social media marketing (commonly called, SMM). If you own a small business in the Fort Worth area, this article provides you straightforward social media strategies and tactics you must be using to up your game.

We’ve even included your first action step in bold to get you started on each trend.

Use pixels to track your Fort Worth Social Media Marketing efforts.

Gone are the days where you had to guess if your social media marketing was helping your Ft. Worth business.

Now many social media platforms allow you to install a simple code on your business website that gives you some real power both to see how social media is growing your business and to target your most interested audiences.

For example, Facebook allows you to present ads to Facebook members who have visited your site. You can even serve an ad for a product or service tied to a specific page on your site they have visited.

This is a powerful means of marketing because the potential customer has already taken the time to 1) visit your site and 2) headed to a specific page to view something you offer.

You can even create a look-alike audience of Facebook members who share attributes with the FB members who have visited your page. Then you can show your ads to this look-alike audience.

Facebook spends millions on its algorithms to group people. Piggyback on their efforts and let their research dollars work for you.

Don’t just guess as to whom you should be targeting.

You can also upload and email subscriber list and target those people or create a look-alike list of similar folks.

You can send an ad to people who haven’t visited your page in the last 30 days.

Or to people who have visited but not yet converted.

Or even to people who have recently purchased and now you have a new product they’d like.

You can even use this tracking pixel for Instagram.

Action step: Install your pixel

If you want to try to DIY this, here is a great article on pixel installation. Of course, we always feel you should spend your time running your business and let us be your marketing department for greater effectiveness and efficiency.

Discover “Disappearing” Social Media Platforms

Two new social media platforms are rising quickly that every DFW business owner MUST have on their radar.

Snapchat is a social media service available in Fort Worth that allows users to share short videos and pics which have a limited time in which their followers are able to view them before they disappear.

And in case you haven’t heard, Snapchat just surpassed Twitter in the number of registered users. On any given day, Snapchat reaches 41% of all 18 to 34 year-olds in the United States.

Mark Cuban’s Cyber Dust is a very similar app. Mark even featured our article on the importance of using Cyber Dust his blog.

Why are these apps that show content for a limited amount of time powerful?

Immediacy.

Your followers know they have a limited time to view your content before it disappears.

So what happens? They pay more attention knowing it isn’t permanently available.

Present a special offer and users will screen capture it on their phone in order to save it before it disappears. This simple action embeds the offer and your business in their minds.

(Note: Of course these apps have a dangerous side, as people use them mistakenly think what they share is temporary. Like almost everything on the internet, this temporary aspect can be circumvented. Provide supervision to your teens using these type apps. Be responsible in helping others use the apps.)

Follow other Fort Worth businesses and business owners on these apps to see how they are harnessing them, as well.

Action step: Create your Snapchat account and put together your first Snapchat only offer.

Take advantage of Live Streaming Apps

Livestream for Fort Worth Social Media Marketing

You can broadcast LIVE to an audience of 1000’s or even 100,000’s in real time.

Periscope, Google Hangouts, Meerkat and now even Facebook allow you to use your mobile phone and broadcast exciting events and updates about your Dallas or Fort Worth area business on social media.

Most of these apps then allow that content to be viewed for 24 hours or even permanently.

Video is the new print online.

Don’t worry about studio quality shots. Just be compelling and authentic.

Action step: Do your first live broadcast this week.

Grow Deep More than Big

If you’ve got 1,000 authentic followers, now it’s time to care for them.

Engage and listen.

It’s better to have 1,000 people who are passionate about your products or services than 10,000 who only liked your page because it seemed like a half-way decent idea one night at 3 am.

Dialogue with these faithful followers. Ask them their opinions, and then respond by meeting their needs and desires.

Consider setting up a Facebook Group where membership application is required. Just think, if someone is willing to go through that process, they are a dyed-in-the-wool fan of your business.

Then cultivate this group with special offers, more frequent conversations and deeper care.

If there is anything Twitter’s failures have taught us, it’s that having a gazillion followers means nothing in and of itself.

Engaged fans and followers are the key!

Action Step: Start a private Facebook Group for your business as well as keeping your FB page.
